Candleru- Wax Fish Pokémon
Type- Water
Ability- Flash Fire/Water Veil/Swift Swim (Hidden)
Candleru’s body is covered in a strange, thick wax that can stay ignited even underwater. For some reason, they are compelled to seek out sources of fire to light themselves up. Obviously, this is difficult in their natural habitat, so they look for Trainers that use Fire-type Pokémon in the hopes of catching fire. The wick on their head is their most vulnerable point.
Smeltdown- Candle Fish Pokémon
Type- Water/Fire
Ability- Flash Fire/Weak Armor/Turboblaze (Hidden)
Evolves from Candleru at level 30 while knowing a Fire-type attack.
Candleru lucky enough to be set on fire evolve into Smeltdown, whose powerful flames can survive underwater. This makes it a dangerous predator, as most undersea life is not prepared to deal with fire. It comes with a side-effect, though- it can no longer dive very deep, as the cold water risks putting out its fire. Many Smeltdown express jealousy at Candleru’s other evolution for being able to travel deep below the surface.
Exfinguish- Burnt Out Pokémon
Type- Water/Ghost
Ability- White Smoke/Water Veil/Heatproof (Hidden)
Evolves from Candleru at level 30 while not knowing a Fire-type attack.
Candleru that are unable to ignite themselves eventually lose the capacity to do so at all, evolving into Exfinguish. These Pokémon give off such a fire-retardant aura that their mere presence can instantly put out huge blazes, making them valuable for firefighters. Their bodies are also frigid to the touch, cooling down their surroundings several degrees. They have grown bitter over their own inability to catch fire, and generally resent Smeltdown for its warm flames.
Day 21 of Blue’s Spooky October Art Challenge- Drowning
Whirlpoon- Sunken Pokémon
Type- Ghost/Steel
Ability- Battle Armor/Heatproof (Hidden)
Whirlpoon are believed to be the vengeful souls of sailors who died in vicious storms while at sea, living within an old helmet. They seem compelled to try to drag humans into any nearby bodies of water, even if that body of water is a bathtub or a puddle. Staring directly in the darkness behind their mask is known to bring tears to people’s eyes, and many report great unease about sailing for days afterwards.
Sirenaut- Shanty Pokémon
Type- Ghost/Steel
Ability- Liquid Voice/Swift Swim (Hidden)
Evolves from Whirlpoon at level 35.
Sirenaut’s song is feared among even the most seasoned sea captains. When they sing, massive waves are stirred up, and the sky darkens with clouds. They have a deep hatred for seafaring vessels of any sort, from huge cruise ships to tiny dinghies, and sing to try to drown those aboard. If their song fails to have any effect, they will dive into the ocean and try to rip the boat apart with their wicked claws, and may even leap aboard to try to drag people to a watery grave.
Widgix- Scrap Metal Pokémon
Type- Steel
Ability- Heatproof/Technician/Motor Drive (Hidden)
Widgix are curious little Pokémon that tend to gravitate towards complex machinery, particularly if that machinery is broken. Using their vast set of tools consisting of a nail, a paper clip, and a broken chain, Widgix will try their best to reassemble anything that is broken. Sadly, more often than not, they only end up making the problem worse, and occasionally end up needing reparations themselves. Mechanics find them a nuisance because they may attempt to “fix” machinery that isn’t actually broken and stop it from working, but some find them charming and capture them to make sure they don’t hurt themselves.
Damastrophe- Junkyard Pokémon
Type- Steel
Ability- Heatproof/Technician/Motor Drive (Hidden)
Evolves from Widgix at level 33.
On the plus side, Damastrophe are a lot better-equipped to fixing things than poor little Widgix is- a power drill and a handsaw are undeniably better tools than a paperclip and a nail. On the other hand, they are also significantly more dangerous, not to mention the open flame on its rear which propels it through the air. Additionally, in the process of evolving from Widgix, Damastrophe may have gotten a few screws loose, so its attempts at fixing things tend to go poorly, for everyone involved. Well, except the Damastrophe itself, which always manages to get out of its own awful situations unharmed.
