Black Henbane- Hyoscyamus niger Henbane is a ritual entheogen with a very archaic history. It has been used as a ritual fumigant since the time of the Sumerians. Henbane seeds have been found in Neolithic burial sites across Europe and Asia minor. In the ancient work henbane was connected to necromancy and the god Apollo. Apollo was also a god of plague, which is an interesting connection to this poisonous plant. Henbane is a member of the nightshade family and can be toxic in large doses, however it is one of the safer nightshades to work with. The oldest way to use henbane is to burn the roasted seeds before divination or summoning spirits. Later it was included in the pharmacopoeia of medieval witchcraft. It has been used in herbal medicine and is still used in homeopathy today. #hebane #hyoscyamusniger #blackhenbane #nightshade #medicinalnightshade #henbaneseeds #entheogen #witchingherbs #occultherbalism #poisonpath #thepoisonpath https://www.instagram.com/p/CWmBJIiLGXY/?utm_medium=tumblr
