Gunpowder Flock yarn is spun from the wool of pedigree Hebrideans that graze near Kames on Argyll’s Secret Coast. This small flock of sheep enjoy fine views across Kilbride bay to Arran. The name derives from the Victorian era gunpowder works, important to local industrial history. The sheep are handsheared in the field and carefully selected fleeces carded and spun on restored vintage machinery at the Halifax Spinning Mill in Yorkshire. Following the Scottish Wool Producers Showcase, a small quantity of this yarn is now available online.
