#heddle weaving

Just a weaving project I'm working on currently, to replace my current lanyard. Something that'll hopefully be sturdy, as well as if the power goes out, the white threads are glow in the dark, so in a pinch hopefully I'll be seen.

I'm using a stick heddle system, similar to that for backstrap weaving that is used in other places in the world, except my heddle sticks are just plain ol' HB pencils.

Using what I've got, since I don't have a rigid heddle this small, to make something fantastic!

Now that my Norse kit is at least mostly done, I'm off to the next kit, Anglo-Saxon! (Soon, I will have kits from all across Europe. Watch out Poland, you're next.) The first piece of this kit is a belt. A bit of a slow start, but you can never go wrong with a solid belt.

Teaching myself Norwegian bandweaving on my new loom! My mom designed this pattern 😊

I haven't quite figured out the most comfortable position for weaving - this loom is just too big to fit in my lap, but not quite big/heavy enough to just sit on a table (I find it moves around too much). So I've taken to holding it between my feet. At least I'm getting a hip stretch 🤭
