I found this deck on Ebay. While I can't afford it, I thought I'd preserve the meanings here. It's a vintage playing card deck that has been use for fortune telling.

I've been otherwise engaged / lazy of late with my cards and blogging. So here, for my sprinkling of followers, is a #halloween / #samhain #calaveraplayingcards year-ahead spread,using the #hedgewytch reading method - read in triads with the #kingofdiamonds as the first point of twelve. Also I'm not one for conversing with the ancestors (halloween for us growing up used to be all about carving turnip lanterns and telling ghost stories) but this Scottish heirloom #ouijaboard does the business. I'll write this reading up in more detail soon, but at first sight it looks like it might be hard work out there, but I reckon it will be worth it. (at London, United Kingdom)

New Moon Psychic Bath

For bringing out psychic abilities and to connect with the energies of the moon. For best results, try to perform this during the New Moon.

Items needed:

-1 cup coarse sea salt

-1/2 cup of baking soda

-1/4 cup vervain

-1/4 cup jasmine flowers

-7 drops cypress oil

Mix everything but the oil in a bowl. Add to a hot bath. Add the oil. Soak in the tub while focusing on opening your mind and connecting with the world around you. Stay in the bath until it goes cold.

Elemental Tool Blessing

This is a good spell to bless new tools for the altar. Steph and I plan on doing one soon for Khione and the bean pod. Take care that in the process of this spell you don’t ruin more delicate items such as tarot decks or feathers, which may be more susceptible to water damage or burning.

Items needed:

-A white feather

-A cup of water

-A red candle

-Your item to be blessed

-A white cloth large enough to wrap the item in

Set all of your supplies on your altar, and begin by lighting your red candle. Repeat, “I bless you with air”, as you touch the item with the tip of your feather. Now, take a bit of dirt in your hands and touch it to the item saying, “I bless you with earth”. Wet your fingertips in the water and touch them to the object while saying, “I bless you with water.” Being careful not to burn your item, pass it through the candle’s smoke, repeating, “I bless you with fire.” Let the candle burn out. Lastly, wrap your object in the white cloth and leave it on the altar over night. 

And there you go, all blessed!

My Interest in Nature Based Religion

Growing up I always craved “organized” religion, but never found one that quite worked for me. It wasn’t until Stephanie and I briefly lived near a lake in Madison, Wisconsin that I began really getting a feel for my spirituality. We found that whenever we needed to clear our thoughts and feel centered we ended up down at the lake. After mentioning this to my mother, she suggested water magick and witchcraft. I began researching more and more, and found that they were describing me!

Around the same time as the lake in Wisconsin, I also discovered my interest in holistic health, naturopathy, and herbs. Cue lots of researching, and I happened along the idea of hedgewytch magick. The rest, as they say, is history.

This brings me to thanks for two websites that helped immensely in my search for information. The first is Witches of The Craft. They have SO MUCH on their site, but I originally ended up in their descriptions of elemental witches. Specifically air, water, and fire. The second is a site called Free Witchcraft Spells, where I began my love of spells and rituals.
