I saw this suitcase in our dumpster at work (not a normal dumpster find for my place of employment) and it raised so many questions... Mainly where's Hedonism I.
So I googled it. It's a Swinger's resort in Jamaica. And now I'm even more intrigued.

Flying back from Jamaica, our connecting flight was cancelled, and suddenly we are stranded on a tarmac in the Deep South, in line behind 50 other planes trying to find a gate. (Something about a lightning storm in another city. We never got a direct answer.) The tickets were in her name, so she was immediately on the phone trying to see if we could get rerouted and frustrated as fuck to have no luck. There was only so much I could do. I did book a crappy little motel just in case we were stuck (good thinks I did, crappy hotel sold out. We got in just in time.)
So she’s stressing, and the air is starting to feel awful in the plane. No one is allowed to stand up. They keep telling us that it’s 15 minutes more and then it’s another 15 minutes. Children are crying, and this selfish dirtbag right behind her thinks that if he demands answers from the flight attendant that SOMEHOW that will make the difference. Dude, I’d rather listen to the children crying than your pointless posturing.
So partner (SVP) is stressing, and getting overheated - it was an amazing week, but an exhausting one. I had been keeping in touch with people via text. Making sure our pups are looked after if we don’t get home on time; making sure some of our new friends are having a better time getting home; seeing if anyone else is stranded at the same airport.
I get a note from the Viking Queen (SVP’s new gf), that her flights are still on track. I update her knowing that SVP isn’t doing well and is focused on logistics and trying not to pass out. “Hey, send SVP some kisses, she needs them right now.” I see a message notification on my partner’s phone - dozens of kiss 😘 emojis. Soon her other new special friend offers to connect us with friends in the area. The new tribe is coming together to support her - to support us.
None of this made find a connection easier, but my sweet brilliant SVP felt supported and loved. No, none of this was about sex. Maybe it wasn’t even about romance. But it was about connection, commitment, and community. I couldn’t have made her feel supported on my own. I needed her gf. I needed our other new friends to know that she is loved and supported.
Many amazing things happened in Jamaica. I’ll share later my thoughts on the cross over of many lifestyles (nudism, polyamory, swinging, queerness), but what we have in common is a connection and community. I’m thankful for that.
She walked by me in the nude pool and said “your glasses are sexy.” Years ago I would have thought nothing of the compliment but I was intrigued. Maybe because I’d been keeping an eye on her all week. She was sexy but mysterious.
I went to the hot tub and said hi. Then I suggested filling off in the main pool. And there I leaned against the side and we went between my legs and we kissed. There was excitement and passion. And I suggested that my room was nearby. It was incredible. I won’t share details here because that’s not the point. She was interesting. We sat in my private hot tub for maybe an hour and talked about relationship dynamics. I’m a bit smitten right now. While the Seattle woman is at the top of my mind, this Missouri woman may be closer to my heart.
This has been a good trip. An exciting trip.
Another great night in paradise (Jamaica). At the pool last night I had an incredible conversation with two poly couples and my partner had alone time with a new friend. When she and I reunited in bed later she told me that exploring together has made her feel closer to me than ever in our four years.
Yes, respectful ethical open relationships can make you stronger together!
I’m excited but nervous. I never thought this trip to Jamaica would end up with my partner and I having a girlfriend. This Viking Queen has already said she thinks this more than a a vacation fling and she wants us in her life after this. But I am awaiting a let down. Vacation friendships sometimes don’t last when your get back to reality.
But if I/we had a checklist she hits all the buttons.

(CNN) — During the time I spent living with my husband next door to Hedonism II resort in Jamaica, I often suspected the neighbors were having more fun than we were.
Strolling from the townhouse my husband Javier’s employer rented for him in the coconut palm-lined vacation paradise of Negril, we’d dodge them on Seven Mile Beach in front of the resort, playing a game of bocce ball in the buff…
