an introductory rec list (that no one asked for) to some of my favorite ships: hedric (harry/cedric) [3/10]
First fic I read for the pairing: Autumn Leaves by hazellepotter [1k,Not Rated] No words were spoken as their lips touched, and that’s when Harry realized Cedric wasn’t like porcelain. He was strong; he was stronger than Harry ever was. It was Harry who should have feared being shattered by his very touch. (warnings: major character death (it’s not tagged (they chose not to use warnings) but i thought it was worth mentioning as i tend to avoid it and i’m sure some others do too) [i stumbled onto this fic when i was going through a phase of reading a lot of rarepairs (of which hazellepotter has a lot of really good ones by the way), and it was cute (but sad).]
Fic that really sold me on the pairing: Stay Alive For Now by nunchikoi [150k,T] (WIP) Everything is the same except Cedric Diggory lives and thus, as God has decreed, Harry Potter has his bisexual awakening. [the concept of hedric has seemed cute for a long time but i saw an excerpt of this fic on tumblr and i was hooked immediately and let me tell you the fic does not disappoint: the canon divergence is excellent (works well within canon events but with realistic differences because cedric lives), the characterization is spot on, the relationship and friendship dynamics are spot on. basically, i’m obsessed with this fic and the pairing.]
Absolute favorite fic(s) for the pairing: Testor Ego Amorem Perpetuum by ABlackRaven [44k,T] "Testor Ego Amorem Perpetuum." I Swear Perpetual Love. Cedric feels drawn to protect Harry Potter. Whether this be from Dementors on a Quidditch pitch or the tasks of a life-threatening tournament, he's determined to help him. He can't help but worry about the younger boy. Eventually friendship takes root and potentially...something more? Harry feels drawn to Cedric, safe when he is near. He certainly has no shortage of dangers in his life, from an abusive home life to the growing threat of Voldemort. He cant help the guilt that he puts Cedric in danger by proximity. Eventually friendship takes root and potentially...could he hope for something more? And when the end of the third task goes horribly wrong, will either of them survive? A rewrite of Book 4 revolving around Harry and Cedric. [soulmate au but make it non-traditional. it’s so good but then again i am a sucker for friends to lovers, well written canon divergent fics, soulmate aus, hurt/comfort, and mutual pining.]
Most recent fic I’ve read for the pairing: i can't lie to you by purplefennels7 [2k,T] OOtP, Cedric Lives AU. Cedric is given Veritaserum at a Prefects’ meeting by Umbridge, and accidentally tells Harry how he feels. In his defense, Veritaserum makes people do strange, unintentional things, but sometimes it all turns out well in the end. [ah yes, umbridge being an ass, potions mishaps, misunderstandings, mutual pining, friends to lovers. it’s all pretty cute.]
Favorite AU(s) I’ve read for the pairing: Modern Muggle Roadtrip AU: moving day by rayfelle [2k,G] Harry is eighteen and he breathes in the salty tang of the sea air. His arms are covered by long sleeves and he can still hear his phone buzzing at the bottom of his backpack. He had told his parents about leaving, not his friends. [i’ll be honest, this is cute but it also encapsulates the wanderlust and the need to be anywhere but here that i feel a lot so that might be why i like it so much. it’s really well written though, so check it out even if you’re not a member of the anywhere but here club.]
Favorite Series for the pairing: Amare by ABlackRaven [169k,T,4 works] (WIP) A Hedric rewrite of Harry Potter book 4-7 (warnings for: graphic depictions of violence and minor character death) [delightfully well written series of friends to lovers with soulmates (but there’s a bit of a twist with how that works and i’m a big fan) and it’s still an ongoing series but i have read it twice.]

Fic(s) with some of my favorite tropes: The Classic Tie Swap Trope: That’s a Yes From Me by Deadly_Sirius [1k,G] Harry accidentally wears a Hufflepuff tie and Cedric accidentally wears a Gryffindor tie and maybe.. maybe the events in the Prefects’ bathroom weren’t exactly innocent.. or alone. [i love a cute little accidental relationship reveal because they accidentally wore the wrong tie and this fic is no exception. in fact, the fic is just as cute as the trope.] Temporary Amnesia + Mutual Pining: The trick to forgetting (is a bludger to the head) by Robottko [3k,G] Sometimes it takes a bludger to the face, and a little bit of amnesia to know how someone truly feels. [a little fluff and a little of one of my recently discovered favorite tropes (something about temporary amnesia coupled with mutual pining is just… so delightful).]
