THEY’RE ALL GONE, STOLEN AWAY BY THOSE WHO CAST YOU OUT! your home in ruins, the sign of struggle evident from overturned furniture, broken glass, herbs scattered over the kitchen floor, books charred to bits, the far wall collapsed in on itself. tufts of hair on the floor, bits of stained blood, and you feel the nausea rising like storm and your knees tremble once, twice, and they give in too easily. bejeweled fingers clamp over your mouth, eyes clenched closed to shut out the way the room is spinning, and you feel like you have fallen from an unimaginable height and are too disoriented to gauge your surroundings. your forehead presses into the floor, and the tears come streaking in raging rivers, the heaving sobs shaking your form violently, because in the moment you left for the nearest town, you’ve lost everything you had left. you built this new life for yourself from the ground up and it’s been snatched away, and you are still reeling. THE SOBS ARE UNCONTROLLABLE AT THIS POINT, but you raise your head up from the floor, eyes frantically darting across the room, surveying everything, but you are not looking for any sort of tangible object. no, the only thing you could hope to turn to is the one thing that you cannot ever see. your breathing comes quick, heavy, your heart aching and desperate to wake from a nightmare that haunts you. “goldie...” your voice cracks, another sob is wrenched from your throat. “goldie, i need you, they’re gone, they’re all gone! i don’t know what to do!”
