What emotion do you most readily associate with your OC? testy and feisty, like he's always toeing the line of explosiveness. i think he's firey but i also think he's incredibly sensitive, but in his guardedness and... "feisty"-ness, it comes off more bratty, like he's overdramatizing his sensitivities because the true feelings beneath feel too vulnerable. i think of ark kinda like a minefield. good luck.
Does your OC prefer the beauty of nature or the bustle of the big city? hm.. genuinely, i don't think he cares. from ages 7-25 he's focused solely on survival, so anywhere that he can find food and rest is optimal. usually the city, as he used to persuade others to give him things by various means, and stealing is much easier. as he ages beyond 25 though, probably around 28+, he begins to sort of understand life and other people... because he finally lets himself. and in that era of his life, i think he'd love the calm beauty of nature, the flowers and the wind, the cold and the snow. it's kind of a symbolism of having all the pain be worth something
If they had to flee a burning building, which possession would they be most keen to grab on the way out? hm. he always carries a dagger from his father and wears a necklace from his mother, but those are items that are pretty consistently on his person... so i think he'd go for a framed picture of him and his sister lilli, but he tends to keep things light as he travels, always having a "go bag" on hand, or nearby. Pretty sure he'd just grab it and dip. while he makes an act of it, he's really not one for attaching sentimentality to many items. he has a few and they carry all the weight he needs.
Is your OC more likely to be getting up with the dawn - or just heading to bed? definitely just heading to bed lol. night owl with insomnia who overcomes night-induced psychotic symptoms, sleeping in the night sometimes just isn't worth it. though, regardless of morning or night, i think his USUAL sleeping style is taking a couple 2-hour naps here and there when he can manage it. Could be at 4am, could be at 4pm. whenever he has time enough to rest and the paranoia begins to hollow out.
What changes come over your OC when they are hungry? despite ark's ability to make food work and last, if he's with other people, he's whiny and bratty lmao. real complainy, despite not having too much effects from lack of food. might get a little dizzy or nauseated, but he's grown pretty tolerant of hunger. you'd never guess it though, with how much he'll make a scene of it.
Does your OC have a go-to insult when people irritate them or let them down? abi's answer was so beautiful i love arthur. ark, however, is a bitch, and will let whatever the hell his head comes up with in a moment. he's the type to either say something completely nonsensical, or dig up the deepest thing he knows and use it against someone. gremlin man, i would despise this guy
Where is a place that your OC will visit (or would wish to visit) when they need to feel at peace? people watching. finding a busy area where he can listen to people talk about their lives and feel less alone, despite being alone. listening to problems and woes that aren't his, as it's one of his only ways he feels comfortable connecting with people... because he's not really connecting with them. at some point he goes to find comfort at lilli's "grave," bc spoiler alert for my own canon, ark is certain lilli died at some point, as when he lost her, she was reported so, even going as far to provide her with a burial to mask her real life. She spends a long time being held captive and there's this whole thing where they eventually meet again and it's wild. anyway. this is nonsensical bc this is my brain but you get the gist. i think after he reconnects with his sister and (re)establishes real friendships, he likes to sit on rooftops and look at the sky. He likes to sit in fields and cloudgaze. honestly i think he just likes the sky
Does your OC have a particular fear or phobia? really hates medical related equipment. tw words ahead for those who have phobias as well: needles, scalpels, imaging equipment like x-rays, and the smell of sterilization tw over. does NOT like his picture taken, though that's less of a fear and more of an insecurity thing? he's also very particular about germs and how he handles grimy situations. for someone who grew up the way he did, he sure is particular about maintaining a clean and hygienic lifestyle
What might your OC wear if they knew they would be called upon to fight or otherwise be active? ark always has almost his entire body covered. he might wear something like leggings under gym shorts and an athletic long sleeved top, or he might wear a cool jacket, or stylized sweatpants, will probably avoid yank-able jewely and chains. he will continue to wear all black though.
What habit should your OC really try to break, but almost certainly never will? smoking cigarettes smh. also getting a little pouty whenever things don't go the way he'd imagined it in his head. i think he DEFINITELY gets better about it over the years, but the feeling is a consistent struggle do the way his brain is wired
