Suzakumon (by toranosuke)
Named after the Vermillion Bird of the South, and lying directly to the south of the main palace buildings, this Suzakumon was actually just one of many over the course of Japanese history. The Yamato state moved its capital many times in the so-called Yamato through Heian periods, and in most if not all of these locations, they built a new capital according to a modified version of the city plan of Xi'an (Chang'an), including a Suzaku-dôri, and a Suzakumon.
