Hel hadn’t been expecting a call from Emma, but she was pleased as always to speak to her friend. Especially since they both had children now who were cousins. Hel wanted Nessa to have as much family as possible. Hel laughed into the phone, brushing a hand over Nessa’s black curls. The little girl was sitting quietly, reading beside her mother. “A sleepover? What a marvelous idea. Nessa, you’d like to have a sleepover with your Aunt Emma and your cousin, wouldn’t you?”
Nessa looked from her book and smiled. She nodded. “Can we have a sleepover?” she asked sweetly.
Hel brushed her hand over Nessa’s hair gently. “Yes, of course my dove.” Into the phone she told Emma, “Yes, Nessa quite enjoys the idea of a sleepover. I think we can arrange that.”
It had taken some time before Zagam had been ready for the idea of children.. not that it bothered Emma. Not truly, but it did take a certain amount of patience before she had finally coaxed and eased Zagam into agreeing to try for a child. It was that choice, that led to Abha, an adorable blonde haired child that seemed to take after her mother.. until you saw the ivory horns that came from the sides of her head, the pointed elf-like ears and the devils tail that was almost as expressive as her Mother’s ears were.
Emma chuckled softly as Abha raced in circles around the living room, her arms outstretched wide as if she were flying like her father. She was bound determined to have wings like her Dad, even if they wouldn’t be forming for another few years yet. “Oh! Perfect!” Emma mused, making Abha stop dead in her tracks. Looking to her Mother with excitement, the child beamed from ear to ear before squealing in delight and dance around in her joy.
“I think Abby is excited,” Emma teased into the phone, laughing lightly at the energy her child showed. “If you like, you can come over now?”
