is it just me or was that whole "skye i liiiiiike yoouuuu" confession from ward lacking any emotion and sexual chemistry whatsoever .. this has honestly been infuriating me to no mean. do the writers even watch characters interact?! argh. sorry for the rant. i felt you may sympathise / offer a very encouraging theory as to how this can turn into ward x simmons. or into no ward x skye whatsoever
Honestly, I found that scene and their interrogation scene last week so nauseating and forced I muted them both.I have no idea what was said beyond what's been touched on in the interviews this week. If they were trying for legitimacy in the off chance that Ward is a double agent, they failed miserably because there's just nothing there. I feel badly because Brett and Chloe can and do have romantic and sexual chemistry with other cast members, (Lil, Iain, Ming, J. August) but not with each other. If Ward is really as big a badass as we're supposed to buy then I can only hope that trying to force such a pitifully developed relationship down our throats was part of the cover the writers had thought up.As for encouragement, either Ward is really good at his job, or Brett deeply fucked up when they blocked all of his scenes with Lil. There is absolutely no reason for him to look at her that way, and this is barring his actions in their scenes together. It can be a very hard thing to modulate, and Ward reads funny in his scenes with Simmons purely based around how he looks at her. There was no agenda surrounding their interactions, we know now that he didn't have to save her but he did and it ingratiated him to the team. That's their first major interaction and everything past that is unnecessary because it wasn't Simmons he really needed to develop a relationship beyond gaining her willingness to make sure he doesn't bleed out.I'd put it more on Brett than I would on Ward trying to blend in, but maybe Brett knows something we don't. We've got his word that he wouldn't be opposed so there you go.
Also, Jemma Simmons Agent of HYDRA, mull that over and get back to me when you realize that it makes a worrying amount of sense.
