"God, I love you so much... there, I said it." Helen finally spat out. She had been acting weird for a few days, and now here she was.

Gally stared at the girl, as if trying to decipher what she had just said; as if he didn’t understand the phrase she had just stated.  He’d noticed her odd behavior before, but he had just brushed it off as her beginning to realize just how venomous he was.

 No way he would ever guess the reason would be something so intense; an emotion he wasn’t sure even existed.  Furrowing his eyebrows, his head tilted slightly, as if he was mimicking a confused puppy.

 ”You love me?” He questioned.  The single word tasted weird on his tongue.  The word was foreign in his mouth and brought a thick coat of puzzlement that blanketed over him.

Modern Day AU [ay]

Gally’s original intentions of visiting his girlfriend that day were in no way ones of sitting together, curled side by side on the couch.  He didn’t know what they would have done when they spent the time together— it was always different every day.  They weren’t limited to one thing or another, and often times would switch off the days in which they did something the other liked but they themselves did not.  In that aspect, the relationship was very much viewed as perfect.

 When he’d arrived and she had just gotten settled on the couch with a book, he had sat beside her— intent on keeping her mind from the book, but she had jokingly began to read it out loud just to bother him.  One chapter went by, and he felt himself consumed by the story written on the page.  It was only a few pages later that Gally was leaning over her shoulder to read the pages himself, a placid atmosphere enveloping the two.

Gally didn’t know how long he’d been asleep.  All he knew was that something stirred inside him, urging him to wake in the back of his head.  It was never good to fall asleep so early in the Glade— that meant he had stopped working early, which wasn’t exactly a good thing to do around here.  After a few minutes of dozing, his mind hovering between awake and asleep, his eyelids finally fluttered open.  His eyes glistened with a thick blanket of exhaustion, as if he hadn’t even slept.  Yet he still found himself able to register the confusion at the pillow beneath his head.A moment passed before his brain finally clicked as he looked up at the other, blinking the haze from his mind.  His muscles tensed easily, not exactly sure when he had gotten into the position, but then he felt the fingers in his hair— and that was enough to cause a wave of relaxation flooding through him.  His muscles released themselves and his eyes slid shut again with a small puff of air from his nose.

"Bloody hell, Helen. How long does it take you to get ready anyway?" Newt asked, as he looked at his watch. He stood by the girl's room, awaiting for her to open the door. "We're going to be late for class."

"Don’t say that!" She frowned at her belly that was swollen. Her dark eyes looked back at him. "I’m not sure I want to be a mom, Newt. The sooner it gets here, the scarier it is." She said, leaning against his shoulder.

He frowned. "Hey, what are you talking about?" He turned to her a little and dew his hand to hers, holding it. "You're gonna be a great mom. There's no reason for you to doubt yourself."

"So that’s why you push some people away." The ex-glader said as they sat in Paradise. Her amber eyes looked out over the ocean as the two sat on the edge of the cliff. “I can’t believe we’re out of that Hell Hole.”

He followed her gaze, staring at that immensity of water he never thought he'd be able to witness. "And I'm bloody glad we are. As nice as running around the Maze was, I think I could get used to this." He picked up a pebble and began fiddling with it, thankful for something to occupy his mind with. "And I don't push people away, just so you know. I'm just careful with who I trust."
