A Ploy
Mindy dropped a packet of papers of in Ron’s box. She giggled to herself as she ran off to go get her work done. Hopefully Ron and this guy would actually fess up to each other, after this.
The top page of the packet had a note for Ron, written in Mindy’s unsteady handwriting:
“Here’s the letter I want rewritten! Thank you for the help! And remember your promise! Also, I’m almost done fixing the puppy. I’ll have it back to you tomorrow morning.”
The letter itself had no name at the top, or the bottom. It only said:
“I know this is unusual. But I know not how to express this any other way. You have become special to me. More than just a friend. So much more. It’s all so new, this feeling.
It makes me happy whenever you come to visit me. And your gifts are so wonderful. I look forward to them, every time. It brings me warmth, thinking of you carefully packaging everything and preparing to deliver it.
I fear that my state has been noticed by those closest to me. And perhaps that means this is far more serious than I had ever anticipated. I apologize if I’m shy about talking through this. I am much better at letters, than I am conversation.
I look forward to seeing you when you come again.”
