"You... You didn't even try, did you?" Anders exhaled shakily, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he turned away from Hawke, unable to even look into this man's face. The Kid ought to know better than to mess with another man's shield. He's been more than enough soldiers, after all. But the stranger isn't paying much attention, and the Kid's curiosity gets the best of him. The weapons are different in this strange land than they are in Caelondia, and he peers close to the blade -- not touching, no matter how much he wants to, but coming close enough to see the strange engravings on the handle, the sharp yet sturdy edge.
Now, just where could he get his hands on something like this?

"This ---- isn't what it looks like."
The Chantry is warm, this time of year. Outside, the snow drifts in -- not as cold as Ferelden, but just as blustery -- and Anders had found the usually repulsive doors of the Chantry to be more appealing than the possibility of getting buried in the ice. At least until it stopped snowing. In which case, Anders would hightail it out of there in a frenzy, finding the place oppressive as it often is, choking him like a garrote.
So it isn't what it looks like. For once.
