honestly I don’t even know if I’d consider myself an OFF fan, it’s a thing I happened to play and subsequently read a lot of meta for and thus know a lot about. I’m not particularly attached to any* of the characters, which is probably due to how weird the whole thing is.

that said though, I’m pleasantly surprised whenever it crosses my dash, and apparently I get hyped seeing other people get into it even though the fandom’s been relatively quiet for years. if it was still A Thing or I’d actually given it a chance instead of “wow this looks weird and I’m tired of seeing it on my dash,” maybe I’d be more into it? I dunno, it’s just neat 8U

*demon birb son is an exception, mostly because I find his “I did everything for you but you foolish mortals have forgotten me, screw you!” thing fascinating and He Looks Cool. like I really wanna know how this cute lil tweety bird turned into a hooved behemoth, and also how he ran a library and etc. etc. it’s all worldbuilding/character development stuff that assumes OFF isn’t a giant metaphor, which I’d guess it is. the Batter also intrigues me, but less as a person and more as whatever he’s a symbol of. basically, the utter lack of in-universe stability is also why I find it hard to actually get invested in these characters V:

I think OFF is an allegory for the Obama presidency. Think about it - I don’t know enough about politics to finish this properly (the ignorance of the American public) but I still find this absolutely hilarious (the effects of propaganda) and would love it if someone (the increasingly powerful social elite) rewrote the entire thing for me.

first impression of OFF: wow this looks really fucking weird current impression of OFF: this is really fucking weird and it just gets weirder, now with horror

the “purification” thing was suspicious from the start but it’s only gotten worse, especially after that sucker on the monorail. I’m guessing the idea is to toy with the “kill everyone, move on” RPG thing, but instead of allowing for different endings like Underta|e, your only option is to apply a baseball bat and/or flying hula hoops directly to the adversary. wonderful! (/s)

at this point the only character I haven’t been mildly disturbed by at least once is Japhet the cool-looking bird-demon-thing, and that’s considering the literal dead cat on his neck 8T

wait wait wait something just occurred to me with the. uh. for lack of a better word, baking soda volcano head Elsen adversaries

I don’t think I got screenshots but they appear perfectly normal in the overworld, the only time their heads are up and gone like that is on the battle screen. even after you win, you might get a piece of dialogue or two where they appear perfectly normal, then they vanish

in the mean time, no spoilers, no hints, nothing. I’m gonna try to go into this completely unaware since I somehow didn’t get spoiled (I don’t think? hopefully not - don’t tell me) when it was popular

I feel like u should either play or watch a playthrough of OFF, bc a lot of ur Undertale meta calls OFF to mind, and iirc ur unspoiled…? anyways I wanna Talk Abt It with u but I don't wanna Spoil u.

uhh let’s see, I vaguely remember it from when it was big back in 2012 or whenever and here’s what I got:

the main character is some baseball guy

there’s a kid with a long name (something like Zacchary?) in a mask who’s important

there is also a cat who may or may not be related to the kid with the long name

body? horror?? sometimes???

pixel graphics kinda like Undertale

something about being “purified”

the track “Pepper Steak” sounds a lot like Undertale’s “Dummy!”

as a side note, there’s a mashup and I listen to it a lot

the post abt Undertale giving u what u asked for sort of called to mind OFF…? like, at least in the sense that OFF tells you "do this thing, it is your mission" and then "oh surprise motherfucker it's consequence time"

y’know I saw how popular that game was in 2012 but I never bothered looking into it, that’s neat how it has Actual Consequences though :o

I wouldn’t say Undertale tells you to do any particular thing though? it’s not “hey you should try killing/sparing everyone,” it just says “no one has to die” (in the trailer/promotional stuff) and leaves it at that. everything from there is on you ;3c
