Marcy never realized how good Sasha was at fighting before.
She'd just never taken a moment to properly admire how the other girl moved, swinging her blades and slicing frobots cleanly in half like it was nothing.
She wishes she could help somehow, but the best the girl can do is watch, take out the occasional evil robot with her crossbow, and it is just her or are the muscles in Sasha's arms more defined than they used to be?
Olivia is standing next to her, the two of them crouched behind a building while almost everyone in the town fights off the attackers. Marcy doesn't miss how Olivia seems to be watching Yunan intently, and a blush creeps to the girl's cheeks when she realizes she was probably staring at Sasha the same way.
The blonde isn't the only one fighting well - the townsfolk are ferocious. Loggle looks like he'd been lifting weights for weeks now, Ivy and Maddie work in perfect unison, knocking down frobots and taking them out, and even Mayor Toadstool is making a sizable dent in the battle.
When the last frobot lands with a thump at her feet, Sasha lets out a long sigh. Yunan motions for Lady Olivia and Marcy to come out again, and once more that feeling of uselessness tugs on the raven-haired girl's heart.
You aren't useless to us.
She's starting to worry about that little voice, but she pushes it down for later. There are more important things to take care of first, right?
"That was - insane," Marcy starts, because rambling is familiar and she can anchor herself with that. "How did you organize the townsfolk so quickly? Come to think of it, where'd you get that new armor?" She motioned to Sasha's fur cape and the rest of the girl's new outfit. "Do you have any real plan of attack besides fending off frobots? Do you want help coming up with one? You should probably get a more secure ba-"
"Whoa, Marcy, slow down." Sasha took one of Marcy's hands in her own with a nervous grin. "I'll try to get you up to speed, but there isn't much to say." Her anxiety from earlier seems to have evaporated, and she motions around at Wartwood. "This is the Resistance. We're fighting back against Andrias, and I mean, the main plan was to rescue you..." She trails off, shrugging. "Now it's just to kick that fat blue newt's ass."
"Hey, there are children watching!" One of the Wartwoodians yelps, covering his daughter's ears.
"What about Anne?" Marcy asks. Anne Anne Anne, her mind (not the mysterious voice this time) echoes. The missing piece, we need her, please come back...
Sasha's shoulders sag, but she pulls them up again before Marcy can say anything. "I'm sure she'll find a way back on her own."
"Yeah." Marcy smiled weakly. "Let's hope."
"Okay, listen, girl," Sasha snaps her fingers and motions to Marcy's suit. The menacing orange eye on her chest does not lessen the concern clear on the blonde's face. "That does not look comfortable. Why don't we get you fitted with something nice, you take a nap and eat something, and then we'll talk about battle plans."
Marcy lets out a little startled noise. "I-I'm not that hungry, Sasha, it can w-"
"No way, Mar-Mar." Sasha shoots Olivia a significant look, and wait, had they been doing that the whole conversation? "As commander of the Resistance, I, uh, command you to get some rest." She winces as soon as she says it, but Lady Olivia steps in and lays a gentle hand on Marcy's shoulder.
"Come on, Master Marcy. At least get something to eat, you haven't in..." She trails off, as if thinking about it for too long sickens her.
"I'm not going anywhere," Sasha adds before a frog nods at Lady Olivia and begins leading her and Marcy to where the Resistance keep their rations.
Neither are we, "Mar-Mar." Don't get to used to anything just yet.
