Its been forever since I read Animorphs but isn't the answer that Yeerks are killed by instant oatmeal if the host eats it or something? I don't remember anything about them getting addicted to it.

So the animorphs fucked up the yeerks food source, and the yeerks are on war rations and accidentally find out Specific Instant Oatmeal can get them over the 3 day limit.

however the oatmeal is addicting and drives them insane and also replaces part of their body??? They get stuck inside the host. That's probably where you got the 'kills them' from.

Animorphs find out about this because they're minding their own business and see a dude attempting suicide and then hear about him raving about yeerks.

So now there's at least a few people stuck with yeerks in their heads who have completely lost it. Isn't animorphs such a fun silly series?
