Also the officer could have undergone rabies vaccines anyway if they were really that worried about it. The probability that Vader had contracted rabies is so unbearably low due to his environmental factors (lived with vaccinated animals, was never left outside unattended or taken off property, never bitten by another animal, etc.) that it was completely unnecessary to euthanize him. They will come back with tests that show up negative for rabies that they probably won't release.

I've been there, but most pet store bettas, while being wonderful companions, are bred poorly and have shorter life expectancies than say, show quality bettas. So don't be hard on yourself! You were a good fish owner!

I'm sure he was lucky to have you for an owner!

thanks, he was given to me as an unexpected gift, and i took care of him as best as i possibly could. he was my college companion. it's hard to not feel responsible for his death though.
