writing accountability 10.5.16

Sam Browning AU

another 700 words added to chapter 6 finishing it. Total for the chapter is 4704. It might get another sentence or two, but in general, I’m happy with where it is. 

chapters 7 and 8 outlined.

Chapter 7 started, currently sitting at 736 words, but will be more before I go home this evening. I’m just taking a break to do finish this write up because, well, this is going to be a hard convo to write and I’ve been working since about 130 (it’s 430 currently).

(for those keeping track? that’s 1400 words and 2 chapters outlined in a week, which is potentially the best week I’ve ever had on this project and pretty freaking close to my best week ever.)

Dust in the Wind/ Hellatus 2016 Project

Don’t Hang On is currently with beta, but his second job started last week, so I have no idea when I’ll get it back. 

Clearly, I’m not going to get all these posted over hellatus. I’ll try to do better next year.

Hellatus 2017 (and beyond)

Has two possible titles, one keeping with the theme and the other because I freaking like it. Once more, title will probably be decided about 2 hours before I publish the season 6, but they’re on a post-it on the file.

there are currently something like 25 posts in the Prepping for Hellatus 2017 tag and I’m going to need a lot more before I start writing it for real. I should probably just start going through things episode by episode and seeing what I can find.

trial beta for Jad done and uploaded. I need to check back in on it later this evening

still need to decide what I want to try to get done this weekend for WWM, but I have until friday morning to decide. It’ll probably be straight writing again, as I tend to do better with those goals.

Writing Accountability 9.28.16

Beware, vaguely spoiler-y discussion of where Sam Browning is going below. Not that anyone cares, since I’m sure everyone is completely over me talking about this story, but *shrug* The polite thing to do is warn people so they can just keep on scrolling.

Don’t Hang On (season 3) sent to edited and sent to beta.

was my main focus for last weekend’s WWM. Goal was 1000 words, I hit 1524, all on chapter 6. And then added another 500 or so, for a total of 2032 words. And I know where I’m going with the rest of the chapter (maybe another 1000 words or so? I’m not sure.)

Right now, I’m trying to decide how closely I want to hew to the structure of the show. I already know I have no interest in dealing with the majority of the Seals and my solution for the Apocalypse is apparently never before written (??? I can’t have been the first person to think of this. That’s not how my fandom works.).  

mostly, I still need to kill Azazel AND deal with Lilith and Lucifer without Sam’s demon blood and WITH an angel on their side.

I think this means I need to take some time and outline again, possibly this evening while watching anime with some friends. 

do note cards actually help with outlining? I was always told they did, but never understood why since it seems like it’s just... obnoxious. Thank you, Ms. Matthews, the worst english teacher in existence for teaching me NOTHING about writing while insisting I was doing it wrong.

Other Projects:

Picked up another Beta project on a trial basis (we need to see if our styles mesh.) It’s printed, stapled, and ready for pen... and has been put aside in favor of my projects. SORRY!!! I’d really hoped to get at least some done over the weekend and Monday night and instead... I wrote and liveblogged NCIS episodes. Speaking of...

Watching the filmographies of the SPN cast has commenced. Blacklist “spn cast filmography” if you’re not interested in reading it. I’m doing NCIS first because I hate police procedurals and if I’m going to watch them (and I’m going to be watching a lot of them), I want to get them done.

Cast, for the purposes of this project, includes: Jensen, Jared, Misha, Mark, Rob, Rich, Gen, Danneel, Kim, Brianna, Osric, and Ruth. At some point, I might expand that to include at least Matt, possibly other folks as well, but... I’m already looking at 365 shows and movies (this does not count things I’ll be watching multiple episodes of)

I say I’m liveblogging these. Really, I’m typing into a google doc and then posting everything all at once. Like I did my rewatch notes last summer if anyone remembers that.

Writing Accountability 9.21.16

This week's funny story: one of the baristas at the Starbucks I normally go to... has decided that @dorkilysoulless and I work for the FBI. Or something. Or maybe he's my informant and we meet up at Starbucks to stare at laptops and discuss Sam and Dean Winchester's sex lives as code? I'm not sure. I just know that I've been requested to keep screwing with the dude because it amuses everyone else on shift.

So I've completely revamped how I keep my writing stuff organized. So I can hold manilla folders with "Case # XXXX" while grabbing my coffee. (note to self: actually add Case# tags to folders this evening.)

I could have gotten more done this week, but... I didn't want to? Well, that and my ability to be social has been way overwhelmed (it's a bad sign when folks who normally count as 0.5 people against your ability to be social are 1.5 people. One roommate is all the way up to 3... when he's not in the room.)

I participated in the Weekend Writing Marathon, which is why my numbers are so high, I'm sure.

Up 898 words in chapter 6, for a current total of 1971. I know where I'm going, and I might have to go longhand to get it there, but that's better than nothing.

Season 3 (Don't Hang On) is edited on paper. I've been trying to get the edits uploaded but lacking motivation. Will probably pull out my laptop at lunch and work on it then. Pre-emptive apologies for it when it gets published.

Seasons 4 (Nothing Lasts Forever) and 5 (All Your Money Won't Another Minute Buy) are printed in preparation of editing, but I've not started yet. 

I have an inkling of what I'm going to call the series for seasons 6-10, but I'm not sure enough I'm going to announce it yet. It'll probably wait until the day I start posting. It's a huge departure from the normal music genre of the show, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (clearly, I'm still in high school and still get 90% of my titles from songs. Don't care.)

General/ Other

Wheel in the Sky/ SW:TFW chapter 14 betaed and published. 

I'm contemplating NaNo. Not doing it properly, because that just will never happen (I say having written more words in the last year than I have since I graduated college, and the most fun words ever), but I like the idea of it. 

Last year, I used it to get a headstart on my Hellatus Project (the thing that became Dust in the Wind). I'm torn between doing the same thing this year (Hellatus 2017 project) or attempting to finish Sam Browning.

So much writing time last week! 6 hours or so on Thursday, 4 or 5 on Saturday (I have no idea what time I went home, it was after dark though), 3 on Sunday. So nice.

Turns out, I write more if I write an episode a day. Shocking I’m sure.

Chapter 6 is up about 500 words. I was thinking I was past the part that was giving me trouble and I could stop handwriting first, but apparently not. So progress on that is going to be slow for a while.

spent 2.5 hours creating spreadsheet with IMDB credits so I can better organize which episodes of what shows SPN cast is in. I’ve got a lot of CSI, NCIS, and ER in my future. This has nothing to do with writing, but it took up all my writing time on Friday.

Writing Accountability

Big news this week is that Drop of Water in an Endless Sea was published Tuesday night. The rest of this week? Pulling teeth, and that’s when I could actually manage to write at all.

once more, Drop of Water was published. 6657 words that will probably make you cry at least twice.

Season 5 is like pulling teeth. 4 hours for 324 measly words and that’s all i’ve gotten all week.

Chapter 6 is up to 579 words. It also hasn’t been touched in a freaking week, but I at least figured out why it was being obnoxious so it should be making forward progress this evening and tomorrow.

Writing. It’s a thing i do sometimes.

Nice and quiet at the coffee shop today. I guess the summer session is over at the university, as there’s only 1 student that I can see. About 1 more week before the students move back to town and about 3 weeks before the university is back in session.

is there such a thing as a Catholicism picker? I grew up Methodist, am now pagan, and the only catholic folks i’ve got know nothing about supernatural. And uh... I think it’s going to be necessary.

everything I know comes from my history degree. Which is not terribly useful for fic writing. Also, has a pretty early modern holy roman empire/ germany bent to it.

i feel like i should clarify: i’m not afraid of going to hell. I am afraid of getting the lore wrong. Because i’m that nerd.

I no longer like my title. So back to the drawing board on that. *eyeroll*

on the other hand, there is apparently lore to back up a thing I made up. This is why i have an angel dictionary.

I’m up about 1000 words since the last time I posted a word count. Chapter 6 has been deleted for right now, but I think I’m almost done with Chapter 5 (for real this time).

it needs to be an action chapter. I suck at action. Tough cookies, i know.

I have POV assigned for season 5, but haven’t started writing it yet. I really really should.
