ADMITTEDLY, this wasn’t the type of rescuing the Doctor was used to. Big scary space monsters and complicated, wibbly wobbly timelines jumbled up by mysterious paradoxes were more his thing. Still, he couldn’t resist someone in need of a helping hand.
Not to mention he was on his own again. Donna was gone and the TARDIS was quiet. There was no one to show this fascinating city to. Therefore he'd gotten bored quickly. He craved a good conversation and a second of a stranger’s company could always do him well.
He threw up his hands DEFENSIVELY, creating a block between them and the crowd of hungry journalists.
“Ah- sorry, sorry. Ladies and gentleman, deepest apologies but Miss- uh... the lady... here... won’t be answering any questions. She’s late for-... a THING.”
A hand moved to rub the back of his neck. It was rather difficult to come up with a reasonable excuse when he had no clue who the woman was or why they were stalking her. Context was essential for the perfect LIE. Which was why most people get caught.
And before he had the chance to come up with something better, he was already swarmed by a pack of voice recorders and cameras. They seemed to have little regard for his existence as they tried with all their might to push past him and INVADE the space of the stranger he was trying to help.
The Doctor let out a heavy sigh as his eyes rolled toward the back of his head. “Oh, alright then. If you’d rather...”
Reaching over, he grabbed the woman’s hand in his and pulled her back toward the bright blue door of his TARDIS, which was propped up only mere inches away from them. “Go on, bugger off,” he DEMANDED as he shoved the both of them inside and firmly closing the door behind so nobody could follow.
“Sorry ‘bout that,” he quickly added, not even allowing her the chance to turn around before he let go of her hand and dashed up the walkway. “Not really my best work. Tell y’what though, all the creatures I’ve faced, nothing scarier than a journalist. And I should know, one of my best mates was a journalist."
“I’m the Doctor, by the way,” he spun around on his heel and WELCOMED her with a warm smile. “Lovely to meet you. Who were they after then?”
