Ares, father, thank you for watching over me.

Thank you, lord of battle and guardian of warriors, for helping me find my strength and summon my bravery.

Thank you, he who stands on the battlefield, for being with me when I weep and when I rage, for seeing my emotions as strength rather than weakness.

Thank you, god of blood and breath, for finding all those fighting, be it wars or illness or trauma, and helping them through fear and pain and grief.

Father, Ares, thank you for watching over me. I strive to make you proud ❤

Mother from the ocean, common to all people, I thank you for your blessings and your presence.

Thank you, mother from the waves, for watching over me and sheltering me in the storm.

Thank you for guiding me from the darkness to a place of love and light.

Thank you, Aphrodite, born from sea foam and blood, for the gifts you give and the love you bring to this world.

Where I find Aphrodite

Hot showers and long baths

Sugar melting on my tongue

The sky when it turns pink at dawn or at dusk

The shape of the words “I love you”

The ocean when waves crash and foam

Lipstick when it is pristine and

Lipstick when it smears

Bubblegum and lollipops

Laughter and the peace that comes after

The sound of people drawing breath in the darkness of night

The brushing of skin on skin the comfort of hugs and

The safety of holding hands

Brushing my hair and doing my makeup (when I do it at all)

Kindness and compassion and complimenting strangers

The beauty of ordinary things that not everyone sees
