Can we please talk about Sai and Shino being besties? In ultimate ninja storm, Sai and Shino started the "League of Silence" because they were both like "Y'all way too loud, especially for shinobi" So they would just chill in silence doing their own things and like, that's friendship level 100 👌 Plus, Shino would lend Sai manga and comic books 😭 They were reading nerd buddies 💖 Now they're both teachers and I wanna see them talk about nerdy books in the staff room and still being awkward nerd besties. And when they first met, Naruto was like "this is Sai, he's weird. And this is Shino. He's... Shino." And they were both like "Naruto wtf" And Shino was like "You don't even know me 😭" And Sai was like "Shino Aburame, skilled with parasitic insects" And Shino was like "You know me? (´；ω；｀)" And Sai was like "Yeah, your bugs are cool" And Shino was like (*´▽`*)😭

they would have someone who will always listen to what they say, who will always remember them. even though sai has trouble when it comes to conveying his feelings, it’s okay because it’s not like shino is a perfect example of communication either.

they are both detail-orientated, logical people who already respect each other as allies. during the 3 tail arc they already had done a background check on each other and SAI was listening intently to shino’s personal likes and dislikes on their first meeting. never will birthdays or important dates be forgotten, and both make a big effort to remember what the other will like most

in an effort to try become closer, sai might try to give shino a nickname too! even if it’s embarrassing or offensive shino would probably appreciate the thought anyway because someone went to the effort to give him a nickname

they both have older 'brothers' that were taken away from them by ROOT, shin and torune. also sai did not understand bonds truly until he met naruto. similarly, shino felt friends were unecessary as a child and torune had told him they were important. shino almost became a ROOT member too when danzo recognised his talents!!!! can you imagine if torune didn’t take his place, shino might have ended up in ROOT and meeting sai much much earlier

also shino is fairly good at reading people and won’t be easily angered if sai says the wrong thing, but instead understand the underlying meaning behind it. shino enjoys clarity too and his ‘why? because..’ makes his intentions very clear to sai. whenever shino does for sai he does not expect anything in return, and he always answers like it’s the most obvious thing. “because we are comrades”. their interaction is uncomplicated but sincere

friends are something that matter so much to both of them, despite often being forgotten or sidelined or not fitting in with the others. shino still holds a grudge from being left out of the sasuke retrieval mission, but sai was a newcomer and has known all the rookies for an even shorter time. even so, they only want to become closer to their friends
