I’ve watched “Hello Again” and it’s a little bit strange because it’s mostly about… sex. I can’t even say it’s about love, maybe a little about relationships but anyway it’s shown through sex. There are ten stories about different people meeting in different situations and making out, stories happen in different times and different places, in every next story appears one character from the previous part, also, a part of jewellery with a red gem (it’s different in different fragments – a brooch, a bracelet, a ring) goes through all the movie (or at least most of it). All this is supposed to be showing the connection of times. Some of the scenes are problematic but I’m too tired to talk about it. What I want to talk about is a representation. From ten stories at least three are gay (two gay and one lesbian to be precise) and there’s a prostituted character which in the first story is showed as a woman and in the last as a man and it’s played by a male actor, so the character themselves feels like a queer one. What I also liked (yes, I checked it) all the gay and bisexual men are played by gay or bisexual actors – amazing, I can’t even make a joke like “that’s how straight men imagine gay sex” – because they are not straight. Unfortunately, I can’t tell the same about women, but, maybe, I just didn’t find the information. Some of the sex scenes are very sensual, especially combined with music, which isn’t very memorable, but suits the time shown in the story and is generally pleasant. The story I like most is… of course, who knew? (sarcasm) – it’s “The Young Thing and The Writer” – it’s coolly shot – all that cinematic tricks and the music, and the “Young Thing” actor is very pretty. I was also a little surprised that the writer who lied to the Young Thing to have sex with him dreamed about marriage during the sex – the stereotype says us that it probably should be the other way around. So, I enjoyed the movie, even if it was a little bizarre.
