WIP Game: Chobei Aza
(A 100-word or so snippet from a new story that im working on). I wanted to showcase the reader's swordsmanship a bit more, but I couldn't in 100 words.
He's nimble-footed for someone using a two-handed weapon; one so large and heavy that it should unbalance him. But when he springs into the air, bringing the blade down with a vertical chop, you discover just how strong this Chobei Aza really is.
Instead of blocking it, a reckless move that will no doubt shatter your katana, you gracefully parry to the right. The axe strikes the ground with a sharp clink, fragmenting the rocky earth and trapping the blade in the stone. Pivoting your body to the side, you slash at him. It should be over; his head should be taken off at the neck, but somehow, he knocks you off balance with an impulsive kick to the side. His moment of accuracy is frightening.
