With a heavy heart, I am here to announce the closing of Hellscape RPG. We are very sorry that the rp is closing and we love all the members. You have all been great people to rp with and we had high hopes to continue what Ashley and Ren started. However, due to school starting for all the current admins, the rp has rolled to a stop. That is not to say that this RP is going to be closed forever, but there are currently not any plans to reopen the RP when school schedules settle down.
You are free to continue roleplaying your characters and using the tags. Please do not claim the characters as your own if they are not OCs. Please give credit to Hellscape for the bios of your characters and do not take your characters to other roleplays if they are not an OC. Please do not use or take up any untaken characters. And lastly, do not steal any part of this roleplay and call it your own as many ideas belong to the original creators of Hellscape.
We thank you, the members, for being a part of Hellscape and bringing the RP to life. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. We wish you luck on everything, especially school if you are returning this year.
Please note that the main will remain open for the time being, but will eventually close.
Three character PSDs created for @hellscaperpg. The first has been posted a couple of times, but has since then been revised. The last one is the one that is being used at Hellscape. The first two may be released if requested , but without the coloring as the coloring is used for Hellscape.
Hello, would you please give us a shoutout? We are a new apocalypse/last of us roleplay that just opened! The time has since passed. The Outbreak: that's over, it's been two years. The world is ravaged, destroyed, aside from the small settlements of people who have managed to make it through. Welcome to Hellscape: where you might have a fighting chance. Thank you!

All reviews are my own personal opinion. I will do my best to be as constructive and helpful as I can be. If there is something I believe you can improve, I will let you know. Feel free to message me if there is anything you want clarified. Please like or reblog once you have read the review.
URL: While this URL isn’t clearly canon from what I can tell (I’m also not familiar with The Last of Us at all), it does let people know that it’s definitely a darker, possibly end-of-the-world sort of deal.
Theme: This isn’t a theme that I generally love, as it can be a bit too minimalist for my liking, and I don’t think there are enough non drop-down links. That being down, I love how you’ve made it very unique with your header. The color scheme is a bit boring, and I’d love to see more of the red worked in. The light grey text for asks can be very hard to read, as it blends into the white background very easily.
Navigation: Again, not a huge fan of this theme’s built in main page links, but it is nice that they stay in place when I scroll and that the two drop-down links are nicely organized. The navigation page really doesn’t match the main and looks a bit sloppy, as the boxes are not consistent in size. I’d really suggest tweaking it or not using a custom navigation page.
Plot: Like I said, I’m not super familiar with The Last of Us. However, i really like the sidebar plot, because it’s pretty easy to figure out what’s going on. I can tell there was some sort of outbreak, and I’m assuming zombie, and that this roleplay is going to be organized around the survivors. A bit more context would be nice, but that’s what the full plot is for, and the full plot does just that. I love how it’s broken into two parts, with the first explaining how the epidemic began, and the second explaining what is going on in the roleplay. i’d suggest linking to the timeline and structure pages at the bottom of the plot, and maybe even making a more detailed page about the Scabs, but otherwise, I like this a lot!
Biographies: I’m seeing some nice racial diversity with your faceclaims, but I’m going to push you to include some non-binary and trans faceclaims and some body diverse faces. There’s no reason that a plus-sized person or a non-able bodied person shouldn’t survive the zombie apocalypse, and their exclusion has some pretty problematic implications. I’d also suggest linking to a non-custom character page, where one can look at all the biographies in one place. I do really like how the biographies are formatted, though, because they are full biographies but are styled to be a bit more skeleton-y. The fact that you break the text up a lot makes it easier to read, and means that I’m not overwhelmed by a huge wall of text. I’m not super into explained connections, but since it is a small roleplay, I understand needing to set that up. I would suggest keeping the connections as vague as possible, though, so people can explore and make their own relationships.
Graphics: The header graphic is stunning and quite clever. It’s creepy, dark, and totally captures the whole feel of this roleplay. Even though you use GIF character graphics, something I’m not super into, these are very subtle and are not too distracting. However, the PSD you use does lighten people’s skin a lot, and that is very problematic.
Rules/Application: At first, I was a bit wary, because I thought you were going to have a sort of arbitrary age limit, but I’m glad to see that you recognize some younger players can deal with mature themes and welcome them as well. I am really disappointed to see there is a rule about gender ratios. Gender ratios are sexist, misogynistic, transphobic, and queerphobic, and you need to get rid of it, or amend it to include non-binary characters. I’d suggest making a list of triggers to be tagged instead of asking for triggering material to be tagged; everyone has different triggers, and you want this to be a safe space. Your application page contradicts your rules page, as you said that 16+ is a suggestion, not a requirement. I’d also suggest making the trigger question mandatory, with the option of “none,” because if it is optional, some people might not feel comfortable answering it. Otherwise, I like the application a lot.
Admins: i saw some very spammy posts further down, and you should refrain from making those. They are annoying and come across as unprofessional. However, I’m glad to see that you use signatures and not random admin GIFs or mascots. Your answers to anon questions have been enlightening and helpful, so that’s very good.
Anything Else: No.
Would I Recommend: Not quite yet. While I like this roleplay a lot, I think you need to address the lack of gender and body diverse characters and use a different PSD so you don’t physically whitewash characters. With those changes, I would recommend this roleplay!
rp recs: burningmaddoxrpg, thegrandcenturyrp or hellscaperpg!
❞ HELLO PETAL ! All those roleplays look amazing, though they aren’t very much my cup of tea. Thanks for the suggestions, though, and @burningmaddoxrpg , @thegrandcenturyrp and @hellscaperpg surely get a rec from me ! Xoxo
