I've been getting nonstop campaign ads for my state's elections and it's absolutely wild

the left is normal

but the right wing candidates are actually mentally unwell

the republican candidate for governor's ENTIRE campaign is running off of "hey do you hate trans people? vote for me"

there's literally an ad where she accuses our current governor and democrat candidate of "wanting a drag queen in every classroom". I'm not fucking with you those are the literal words

another republican ad was comprised of slandering the opponent by calling them a clown for supporting trans kids

one of the proposals would codify abortion as a right in the state constitution so naturally republicans' entire idea to combat it was to make their slogan "too confusing too extreme" basically saying they didn't actually read the fucking bill. but they weren't done there, they made up a part about kids being able to get gender reassignment surgery without parental consent to add flair

but I think my favorite part is one of the office candidates openly admitting they think sex is a way to become possessed by demons and that abortions were actually sacrifices to satan
