Starting the year, I think I'm giving new cards and some associated summaries for the few of my fanwalkers that I got art for, the next in alphabetical order is Dancing-Hands! His art was commissioned a bit ago to the skilled (and currently on hiatus) @helnushavoc.
Dancing-Hands is a Kitsune from Kamigawa. Aligned Blue-White, he sees himself as more of a creative and student of the world than a fighter, but after staying for a few long years within the Ojutai, he learned to cultivate and hone both body and mind.
Even before that, he was a bit of a prodigy from very young, clever, fast-learner, and with a magic allowing him to manipulate objects close to him many saw as a blessing from the kami. He gained his second tail much earlier than most, and it stoked his arrogance.
He pushed his innate magic, learning to manipulate not only objects but also magic with it, and tried to temper with the fabric separating Kamigawa's realms. That attracted one of its guardian, who quickly immobilized him and placed a lock on his mind before fixing his mess. Before they were finished however, Dancing-Hands had sparked and left the plane, never to be properly interrogated and with incomplete memories.
He landed on Tarkir, among the Ojutai, thinking he accidentally had reshaped Kamigawa's reality into it. He stayed there for a few years, integrating into the Ojutai and working on being more humble and appreciative. His next planeswalk was another reflex to save his life during an unfortunate encounter with an Atarka dragon. After that, he encountered another planeswalker through whom he learned a bit more about what he was.
Since then, he planeswalks regularly to see new plane, and has encountered a few other planeswalkers. He fought in the WAR with a couple unlikely allies (including Arnoss), also met another person’s fanwalker, Epnu Nef and spent a lot of time with her and her family, helping to rebuild Amonkhet and help them figure out how families can work. He's been learning as well, learning to be more decisive and that a bit of arrogance isn't that bad when it's deserved and proportionate. Which has lead to some tension with his monastery's skywise.
As far as abilities go, Dancing-Hands has the aforementioned innate magic of telekinesis. It is very powerful, but has very short range, basically ineffective at more than one or two arms length of him. He generally uses that as a way to fold paper and create intricate origami, that he animates of can give the objects they represent's properties via Kanji magic that he learned.
He was also trained with the Ojutai in some forms of martial arts, although the magical parts of those tends to get muddled with his own magic and be less effective against living beings. The fact he's a Kitsune probably compensates because they're very strong, endurant and fast as a baseline.
He's curious, a bit awkward, sometimes wise and pretty smart. He's still a kitsune, so he likes some good trickery and humor, even though he's generally stoic and not someone most would suspect.
