I was there last year in this period and it was perfect. my best friend actually lives there and I wanted to share a list of recs from her that I know i must have somewhere -- however I can't find it on a quick search and the diss is keeping me super busy, so i can do the next best thing and share a 'secret resource' (not so secret anymore but I don't think it's known outside of Italy): there's a Facebook group called SI MANGIA BENE, SI SPENDE POCO & if you search for Firenze, there are a good amount of posts about it with tons of recs.

honestly, you'll get great food anywhere but still! thought I'd share, I think it's double the fun (hunting for a good spot and getting great food)

Hi, this question is specifically for someone who studies English. At any point, are you taught how to write scripts?

I don’t study English, but if there are any helpful experts, please drop us a line!

As far as I’m aware, English students aren’t specifically taught how to write scripts, although you get plenty of chance to study plays in general. There are, however, plenty of opportunities to get involved with the drama scene in Cambridge, including performing small pieces of your own work and putting on your own productions. You can find out a little more on the ADC website here, and the events are regularly advertised through facebook (such as this one from a few years ago). Hope this helps!

to the guy asking about not drinking and clubbing etc, DONT WORRY. I am a fresher at Jesus (the 'party' college), been here 3 days and had 2 nights out, one night in. there are LOADS of people who dont drink, and its so chill- people legit do NOT care at all. I had an energy drink and I was ready to GO. its lovely, there are people to chill with if you stay in, and always people to go out with too. for pres, just chill, sing along, have soft drinks. chat, NOBODY will care.

continued.... at the clubs, if you like cheesy music then honestly it DOESNT MATTER if you drink because EVERYONE sings along, its AMAZING and literally nobody will care if youre drinking or not. honestly its actually better not drinking, if you can still let go and not be shy and sing along then you get all the perks of being out but no hangover, no headache. honestly going out sober is AMAZING, cindies is WONDERFUL and do NOT WORRY AT ALL!!however you should probably know that there aren't a lot of people who go out but dont drink (Jesus), its quite a split between drinking and going out, vs not going out at all. so if youre okay w being the 'mum friend' looking after everyone then its gr8

I hope it didn’t come across in my previous answer that people at Cambridge weren’t friendly and understanding. It’s just that I’ve had no experience of pres and going clubbing while here so didn’t want to give an opinion based on no experience. :)

Hi! Any advice on applying for NatSci? I’m not sure how much reading or prep for the test I should be doing or what to expect from the interview. Thanks :)

So I don’t feel like I can give too many tips about prep for the test, as I’m pretty sure we’ve got a couple of NatSci helpful experts hanging around who might be able to give advice from experience. But in general, look through the spec and do the practice papers that are available, but don’t stress about it too much. For reading, there’s no need to do masses, as it’s best to discuss books on your PS rather than just name dropping, so limit the ones you mention to a couple, and maybe an article or two? Obviously if you read more than this, that’s excellent, but think through which you mention specifically. The interview will probably include problems to solve - there might be some maths, and then questions that start from your A Level knowledge and then go further. Sometimes they’ll ask A Level type questions but then might probe your understanding further, rather than just knowledge of content. It might be a good idea to watch this video, which demonstrates a Chemistry interview - obviously topics will vary depending on subject, but it should give you an idea.

Are there any colleges which are good for vegans?

Vegan helpful experts? I think Pembroke’s pretty good (see their buttery menus HERE) - it seems like they’ve always got at least one vegan option on the menu. Most colleges aren’t fabulous, though - you’ll be best off at one where you can cook for yourself  (see HERE for information on college kitchens) just in case there isn’t a vegan option in hall on a particular night!
