Hi Anon!!!! Thank you for the ask! I’m afraid no physical contact is possible since Roman is a ghost. He cannot experience touch and goes through things, that would include Virgil.
But, that doesn’t really stop Roman from hugging him. He puts his arms around him, careful not to go through. It’s not the ‘real thing’, but it carries the meaning and the emotional value. When Virgil is sad he hugs him more often than not.
Most importantly, he’s a constant support for Virge. Roman does help him get better, given that he was not in a good mental state when he moved to the mansion. It gets to the point where Roman is Virgil’s greatest confidant and makes him feel super safe, enough to tell him things he’s never told anybody. Roman shows him how to dream in a moment when Virge only wants to stare to the ground.
In turn Roman confides in Virgil. He helps Roman with his internalised homophobia, listens to him and aids him on addressing his feelings about his own death. Virgil has a central role in Roman’s acceptance of mortality. Also, he grounds him.
So maybe no physical hugs for them, but emotional/psychological ones and lots of wholesomeness and support!!!! Again, thanks for the ask!!! I hope my answer satisfied you!
