The Officers Prank Dick Winters. Winters Gets in BIG Trouble
Some officers think 1LT Dick Winters is too uptight, too prim. He doesn't curse, doesn't drink, doesn't go on dates with the local girls who fall at his feet. Hence, the officers prank Winters.
At dinner, Winters unknowingly drinks a glass of juice spiked with sleeping medicine. He gets knocked out. The officers put too much sleeping medicine in the juice, which leaves Winters asleep until 8am the next day. The officers carry him to his billet and sneak two girls in. The girls are paid; their job is to lay down on either side of Winters (and do nothing). They anticipate Winters's embarrassed, red face in the morning.
However, the prank backfires. The following morning, Sobel and Sink are escorting Gen. Taylor on a tour around the camp. They open one billet and find a shirtless, sleeping Winters and the girls. Winters's defense that he didn't know how the girls got in falls on deaf ears. He faces two charges: (1) violating Army rules about bringing civilians into the camp and (2) abusing his rank to manipulate the girls to sleep with him. Since he is an officer, the penalty for these offences is the firing squad.
