LIKHA BY HEMANTHSIREE (Spring Summer Collection 2016) -
Hi, lovelies! Today I collaborated with a simply wonderful designer- her name is Siree! She’s a fresh and talented designer with a sharp vision of how her creations will be.
She recently showcased her clothes at Bangalore Fashion Week ’16 and took the audience by storm with her powerful, strong, and colourful collection. This collection is all about street drama, like "THOLUBOMMALATA"- a puppet show (shadow show) which is from a village in Anantapur District. Likha represents Indian ethnic, traditional looms like ikkath, jute silks and cool cottons, played with traditional embroidery and tribal art, temple art, ancient checkered damask. The outfits were mid-length dresses, long dresses or jackets, with Western cuts using prints like puppet play and a few characters from the Ramayana like Ravana and so on.
HemanthSiree Maarg is committed to creating women's garments and some men's garments too (kurtas, etc.), which are manufactured in all kinds of fabrics (cotton, silk). The collection also features some interesting patchwork. Since 2006, this label has developed a unique style of its own, reflecting the ancient traditions of Indian craftsmanship in contemporary vocabulary. By understanding ancient designs and with the innovative use of traditional crafts, they have created a new classicism.
I had a lot of fun experimenting with these traditional outfits, and the styling, as you can see, is quite different from what I normally do. More contemporary and versatile. If I had to pick a favourite, it would be one with the funnel sleeves. It's the dress with white stiff sleeves, with an extension to the funnel sleeves. If you are looking for something bold and totally divine, this is the place to find it!
There are so many ways to style an outfit from this range, and they are so accessible. It was a pleasure meeting with HemanthSiree and coming up with this special blog post. And some very exciting news about Siree is that she is nominated to showcase at World Fashion Week ’16, happening in Paris this October. She is destined to go international in such a short span of time. So proud of her!
