Learning by doing is the impetus of Baba Is You‘s core design philosophy. Rather than specifying hints or showing other characters performing an action, the game instead provides a generous “undo” system for any action the player performs, ensuring that prior steps are never lost due to a mistake, but merely allowed to be regarded as incorrect before the player tries a different approach. Activity is gameplay, and gameplay is activity in this case, and once the player understands the workings of all the inner pieces of a given level, the solution often presents itself in a moment of epiphany.

my usual emotional response to solving a really difficult puzzle would best be expressed as an awed gasp, as it finally clicks. when playing baba is you, it's really more of a pained groan, as something finally snaps. and i wouldn’t have it any other way.
