Shooting a two-day total of 142 (68-74), Bishop Hendricken's Colin Sutyla captured the individual state title and led the Hawks to a runner-up team finish at the RIIL Golf State Championship, held Tuesday and Wednesday at Cranston Country Club.
Mason Gilman of Middletown was individual runner-up ( 75-73-148).
Third-place finisher Eli Epstein-Lubow (73-77-150) and Rio Holzwarth (71-80_151) led Moses Brown to its fourth team title in five years
Holzwarth went home with an armful of hardware.In addition to earning a spot on the R.I. Golf Coaches Association All-State first team, he was named the R.I. Golf Coaches Association Player of the Year and also received the John Gray Award as the Stroke Average Leader For The Year.
Joining Sutyla, Gilman, Epstein-Lubow and Holzwarth on the All-State first team were Nicholas Salvatore of La Salle, Wheeler’s Allison Paik (who was tied for sixth this week and won the girls state title last week at Newport Country Club) and Will Giguere, also of Wheeler.
