Recommendation of the week: Festen (1998)

Genre: Drama

Plot: The Father turns 60. His family, which is a big one of the kind, gathers to celebrate him on a castle. Everybody likes and respects the father deeply...or do they?.

Henning Moritzen (1928 – 2012), a Danish film actor. He appeared in more than 70 films between 1950 and 2010. He was born in Taarbæk, Denmark. The  picture above from the movie Headhunter (2009).

A former notorious journalist, now successful headhunter with a complicated personal life, gets hired to find an alternative heir to Denmark's largest shipping company and oil empire.

A very good first hour when the story and characters are introduced. Then the plot machinations get a bit much, starting when he finds out which other patient is housed in the building. From there it gets increasingly difficult to ignore the familiarity of many plot elements. But overall it's still a worthwhile watch.

At the time of filming they probably intended to use the success of Lance Armstrong in a positive way. Soon afterwards it became official that he's one of the biggest frauds in sports history. Funnily, he can still be used as a symbol for the movie. Albeit of a different kind.
