Death Comes Suddendly
Ink Demonth Day 23rd: Death
Description: A return to the concept of Henry being forced into being Bendy ( Bendy!Henry ).
-----------------
Henry didn't really go to church that often. Go figure, the man who made a cartoon demon the good guy wasn't a devout catholic. But, when he did, there was often this rhetoric:
The self was much less important than the whole. Selfishness was an ultimate sin.
He wasn't a selfish person. Had Henry been so, he was certain that he would've continued working at Joey Drew Studios because, even with the half-assed credit from Joey, he was still getting decent attention. But Linda mattered much more to him.
But he was selfish enough to just want to get out of this hellhole. Would it be amazing to free everyone from their inky shackles? Of course, but he just wanted to get home.
At this very moment, though, he was concentrated on beating the Ink Demon. The beast was a distorted version of one of his greatest creative accomplishments, Bendy. But, there was something terrifying about said beast.
"I always thought you had a good heart, Henry," the Ink Demon monologued.
It was Joey.
"And you clearly still have it! Why else would you come all the way from California to visit little ol' me? So, assuming that good ol' heart of yours is still beating, then you'd complete this large favour for me, right?"
Henry took a step forward, "What you've been doing isn't right, Joey! We both know that. I've already done enough for you. If there could be a sliver of a chance of you balancing that out, then you have to try and stop this madness."
The thing his old friend had become tried to frown, but its eternal smile kept put, "I can't say I expected any less. But I am sad that this will have to be harder than it has to be."
Henry didn't have to guess what the man meant. It took only seconds for the Ink Demon to grab him and plant him firmly on one of the many odd patterns on the ground. He just hoped that those were just remnants of old rituals.
"I'm sure you've noticed that this thing I have to call a body is quite a sad excuse for Bendy, right?" Joey's voice was tense, "When I was younger, I thought that I would love being the star of the show. So I became Bendy! But now in my old age, I wish for nothing more than to have a humble life."
His smile twitched, "Right now, I am lost in the persona of this King of Darkness. Joey Drew is dead. But you could help with that, Henry! You could bring me back to life!"
Joey really was like all the others... broken and so far from who they were, "Joey, whatever you're trying to do, it won't bring things back to normal!" There was some sympathy in his voice.
But, despite the statement being a plea, it just seemed to amuse the Ink Demon, "Oh, Henry, you are too naive. But, I suppose you are not nearly as naive as you will become soon..."
By that statement, then surely the demon was planning to... "I'm sure you can find a way to make you better that doesn't involve doing anything to me," he pleaded.
He shook his head, "This ritual will trade my situation for yours. But, considering your much more suitable soul, I'm sure this will turn out swell for all parties."
Surely Joey wasn't planning to —
Snap
Henry had truly expected Joey to keep on monologing. To give him a chance at convincing him. But it was hard to convince your old friend when so much of him had been distorted into a cartoonish villain. The man was hoping that at least he would be able to take advantage of that, but it seemed not.
And now, everything was black. But, so, so loud.
Susie, or who he thought was Susie, had once described the place he was being thrust into. Your mind floated in pieces like fish in a bowl. So much yelling, so much crying.
So much shredding of the mind. Yet, also moulding. It was uncertain whether it was the Machine, the Ritual, or even fellow souls that were manipulating his mind, but it was happening.
It was hard to remember why he was even here. Not only in the Ink, but at the studio in general.
Soon, it was hard to remember why he wasn't at the studio to begin with.
But even if Henry felt himself slipping, he still held onto his sense of self. Even if it felt like giving in would make the whole happier.
There was a bright, yellowish light at the end of the tunnel that Henry had felt himself thrown around in. Finally, he could leave the place.
He felt himself being spat out by the ocean. Upon landing, he noticed his hands. They felt different; they looked different. Cartoonish.
Henry knew that he was no longer himself. The difference in height and body told him who he had become.
Really, there was no...
...
There was a man in the distance. His nice clothing was stained with ink. Why was there so much ink in this place, anyway? Did something happen with the printer?
No... There was no printer in here... Maybe this was some type of ink water balloon fight. Did he forget about a prank war he started or something? He heard Alice talking from another room. She sounded concerned. Maybe someone took it too far?
He decided to approach the poor man. Hopefully, he could give some context.
The older man looked at him with sadness, but also joy. He was prideful. Did he enact this ink war for him? But that wouldn't explain the sadness.
"Heya, sir, can ya explain the mess?"
He blinked, "You know what caused it, Henry."
It was his turn to be confused, "I think ya got me mistaken for the wrong person! Or you just got a lisp."
The man's eyes widened with even more sadness and amazement, "Oh, it's just me mistaking you for an old, dead friend."
Ink Demonth Day 20th: Ship
I felt like Ship is a very non-canon term, so I didn't wanna use Linda. I was originally gonna do Creatorship, but I wanted to do something more romantic for this theme and Creatorship for me is exclusively a plot/interesting ideas ship.
So Senry it is!
