Herbert Chapman
Chapman basically established the parameters of what it means to be a football manager today. He invented the board on which you draw your team tactics, he also invented tactics. He had Arsenal selling products with the team crest emblazoned on them in the 1920s. How far ahead of his time was that???? The more you read the more you’re amazed. I’d urge you to check out Barney Ronay’s book ‘The Manager’ if you’d like to know more.
