Coin Toss: Forsyth strikes first
“I know there has been quite a bit of buzz circulating the lances division of the tournament. We’ve come down to the valiant Sir Ephraim and the determined Sir Forsyth.”
“I believe that’s Araceli I can see in the stands... She does look proud, doesn’t she? Nearby are members of the Deliverance as well. I’m sure both of our finalists will enjoy the attention!
FORSYTH: 14 strike v. 7 defense (Anemone)
Forsyth doesn’t hesitate for a moment, once the fight begins, he charges. Ephraim nearly dodges, but he is momentarily distracted by the anemone flower Forsyth wears. The green knight scores the first strike of the match!
EPHRAIM: 5 strike v. 12 defense
The young king tries a sweeping strike with his spear, but Forsyth sees it coming and dodge rolls to the side.
FORSYTH: 5 strike v. 15 defense
It seems Forsyth rolled too far in his dodge. As he strikes, he swings on open air, Ephraim is out of range. Forsyth chuckles at himself for that one.
EPHRAIM: 2 strike v. 12 defense
The good thing about being out of range was that Ephraim didn’t get hit by Forsyth. But the down side, it made the green knight’s dodging easy as he just backstepped to avoid Ephraim’s lunge.
FORSYTH: 18 strike v. 18 defense
Both lancers let out a determined shout as they rush each other and strike with powerful force. Their spear heads clash, making both of their strikes miss as the two recoil back from the force of the deflection--
EPHRAIM: 10 strike (Chrysanthemum) v. 6 defense
Ephraim recovers faster from the clashed spears, and he moves in fast to score a hit against Forsyth, tying the match as the crowd roars in cheers.
“This is going to be a close fight! They’re both giving it their all. Who do you think will take the lead?”
“I’m not sure. Neither are giving the other any room to breathe here. I already know that Ephraim is the battle-hungry type, but Forsyth has shown a surprising tenacity throughout this week... Right now is no exception.”
FORSYTH: NAT 20 STRIKE v. 3 defense
Forsyth breaks form, ducking down low as he bolts at the king. He gets underneath Ephraim’s defenses and lands a perfect upward strike on Ephraim’s shoulder.
EPHRAIM: 3 strike v. 7 defense
King Ephraim finds it difficult to strike back after that hit. His shoulder will inevitably bruise in the morning, but he lashes out anyway. Even if he misses.
FORSYTH: 6 strike v. 5 defense
The final fight is nearing its end. Forsyth feels the weight of the emerald bracelet on his wrist, and he tightens his grip on his spear. He has one last chance to land a strike, and he comes at Ephraim from the side with a downward jump-strike!
EPHRAIM: 4 strike v. 6 defense
The bell tolls right as Ephraim makes his final strike. He doesn’t connect, but he smiles nonetheless, proud of the challenging fight.
“There we are! We have our winner! Sir Forsyth is the Champion of Lances! Congratulations!”
“It seems Ephraim used too much energy throughout the week, as he had just a few too many missed opportunities towards the end. Still, he was a formidable opponent, and gave Forsyth a good match. Enjoy the dance, you two!”
Before the two warriors leave the arena, they are ushered to the judges’ box. King Ephraim is presented with a circlet made of silver flowers, his second place prize. Sir Forsyth is crowned with the golden circlet of flowers.
FORSYTH IS THE LANCE CHAMPION!
