What are some fun things you think Lars and Sadie do together when just chillin? Think they ever make it to the beach?
hmm well i’d guess that early on their hangings-out was more sporadic and like, on a whim than the most regular occurrence…..since like neither of them really had any friends and so it wasnt so much a matter of like “hey im doing ___ wanna come along” but more of like either having to say im doing this random shit by myself wanna join me & thats harder to be all casual about….and presumably they were both like whups better try not to make things Weird…a fine line of trying to be casual but not like Strategically casual coz then thats weird. rip
tldr i think that had really varied & like, unusual hangout activities lol just coz of their hangouts being more spur of the moment and not wanting it to seem like a Whole Deal
like, they’ve been over to each others houses before, probs to chill or to actually chill or both. and like stuff like, watch something & end up having a like five hour convo abt whatever
im not sure they’d go to the beach a lot just coz of the fact that they have to look at it so much during work….but looking at it isnt the same as being on it, so probably sometimes yeah. but maybe they’d go to like a different part of the shoreline than the boardwalk part…..since that’d be the most crowded at any given time & involve the boardwalk & seeing the place that they work & you might die coz steven’s whole zone of the beach is right there. like, maybe it’d be more like hey lets go to the other side of the town’s shoreline and chill out there huh. kind of out of the way, but that’d just be a pro for them probably
like, i can see them hanging out in parts of the city Not all close to the boardwalk, even if the rest of the town is fairly boring. maybe they’d go like to the next town over if beach city does have adequate public transit but thats still kind of a hassle to do that often. but they could like, walk to a gas station to get an ice cream bar at like 11pm some random night, maybe there’s a park or a library to chill out around, general degenerate teen loitering yanno? parking lot conversations about random shit
i like to think that the underground wrestling was like, their most consistent hanging-out times lol. coz like you don’t really have to worry about that seeming too much like A Whole Thing, right, its just fun and weird and they’re like that, tbh. both secretly fun and weird but they had super boring constraints of work all the time and no friends and a boring small town and trying to avoid their parents. but rasslin is silly and just about yelling and having a good time and being passionate and constructing a persona so whats not to like for those two honestly. wrestling viewing was probably most Their Thing, if they had anything close to a thing
i do also think though that they were hanging out more regularly before lars got abducted by aliens, the way that you do. like, just picking a spot to chill & then just hangin out there, doing whatever. still probs hanging at each others place’s whenever one of them didnt have to worry about parental involvement or anything. and when they hung out outside of their houses i still think of it as mostly kind of “purposeless” chillin like, not so much doing date-y shit like lets go actually do something together, but more like hey whats up, lets walk to this one location and sit there for a while and throw rocks, then decide to go to this other place and sit on the bench there, then swing by that one hill with the trees and see if the sunset looks cool, etc etc. but they at least probably didnt feel as much pressure about like hmm what if that = hanging out Too Much, nah everyone has just accepted that they enjoy each others company, we’re all loser nerds here who like each other and its fine, shockingly
hanging out at work also counts too though. since i am guessing thats how they got acquainted in the first place, inevitable conversations if theyre really the only two working there. plus theyve got that sickass Back Room, totally have a lot of snack break chats and commiserations and all.
those are just the thoughts i tend to have lmao….generally seeing them as like doing just random shit like loitering on the old docks and trying to spot fish and be like “theres a fish. anyways continue”…mostly about talking and getting out of the dang house / work endless cycle and being able to just do nothing and actually socialize in person for a min. i do think also (and like, evidently) that they’ll sometimes go to shit happening around the boardwalk, events and stuff. thats probably more of sadies ideas like hey im gonna check out this thing wanna come & lars is like seriously ugh fine!!!just checkin out the weird events that people put on & being like well alright
