An Imaginary Series of Space Probes
The Lilith Multi-Phase Orbiter Misson The Multi-phase probe designed to place a series of relay probes in orbit within the asteroid belt, an orbiter around Uranus, an orbiter around Neptune, and conduct long range heliosphere experiments was designed by the Anarchist Collective of Scientists in 2063 and launched in 2064. The mission used a number of technical improvements upon its predecessors including liberal use of the most powerful perfect superconductors to ensure long range use, advanced light wight nuclear powered propulsion and power cells, engineering a system of break away probes positioning a record breaking number of spacecraft, establishing back bone of relay communications in the outer solar system, and being one of the most efficient probes ever launched costing only 400 million dollars.(~67 million dollars per research object) Launched at speeds of well over 40,000 km/h the probe was destined to leave the solar system after encountering a number of bodies. The Hermes Relay Probes
During Lilith's passage through the asteroid belt the Small Mass Break-Away (SMB) phase probes named Hermes 1, 2, and 3 were detached from Lilith and began their separate missions to achieve median orbits from each other within the belt so as to provide near continuous relay of messages. The probes conduct no scientific experiments of their own and as such are expected to remain functioning for until at least 3200 as relays, and at least another million years as beacons for our solar system as they emit radio related radio frequencies.
The Hecate Orbiter
The first of Lilith's Large Mass Break-Away (LMB) phases, the Hecate orbiter detached from Lilith as the probe flew by Uranus and positioned itself within orbit of the icy planet to conduct the most extensive analysis ever done and will be used to observe the Isis terraforming experiments. Hecate is expect to last until 2900 in its scientific state and as radio beacon for a million years.
The Salacia Orbiter
Lilith's second and final Large Mass Break-Away probe detached from Lilith as planned however had to enter orbit slightly off course due to an interaction with an unknown body in Neptune's outer dark rings. The orbiter has a larger elliptical orbit than planned; however, it does not represent any long term threat o Salacia's mission of extensive analysis of Neptune and monitor Venilia sample return missions planned for the future. Also expected to last as a scientific instrument until 2900 and as a radio beacon for a million years.
Lilith in the Heliosphere
The Lilith probe, now significantly smaller, entered interstellar space at breath taking speeds of nearly 400,000 milers and hour. The probe will conduct continuous research on the interstellar medium until an estimated 2700 when it will shut down most scientific equipment and broadcast pre-programmed electromagnetic messages for nearly 2 million years as it travels through interstellar space, becoming the most likely candidate for interaction with extraterrestrial life.
