So... he was the new member that the boss had recruited. Phinks had seen some of what he could do, but more so heard about them from Chrollo himself. Everything he had heard was fairly impressive, but something about this guy was off. He was Kalluto’s older brother, and the resemblance was definitely there, but he seemed far more...gifted in regards to nen.

The diner they are seated in isn’t the most elegant place in the world, but as far as diners outside of Yorknew City go, this was probably one of the better ones he’d seen at least in terms of cleanliness. It didn’t matter if Illumi had been expecting him, or if he had ordered already... before business can commence, Phinks flags down an older waitress and places an order for coffee and eggs.

“I wasn’t snooping, I just know you,” Shota replied, in his usual sleep-deprived voice, “nobody giggles in the middle of grading papers. These essays aren’t that funny.”

Okay, maybe a few students tried to add a little humor to their papers, but Shota didn’t laugh. Then again, when did he ever? “I’m glad to see the students are paying attention,” he pointed out, as he wrote a red “B” at the top of the stapled stack of pages he was just reading, “but nobody’s impressed me yet. How about you?” He took a moment to look at the ceiling, dripping some eyedrops into his eyes, then blinking a few times to let them set in.
