Day 69 of #100daysofheroines at last! #sailorsaturn was one of my favorite #sailorsenshi growing up. Her indirectly #goth aesthetic was totally appealing to me growing up, and I was fascinated by her association with #death and #rebirth Who was your favorite #sailormoon character growing up? Has it changed as you've grown? ____________________________ Here's hoping to getting those last 31 done at a reasonable pace! I ended up taking a long break from these pieces and I almost even forgot about them. A few weeks back, you may have seen, I remembered where I left off and I felt it was time to get back on my feet to challenge myself with finishing these. Day 71 of #100daysofHeroines is Chibi Usa from #sailormoon! I actually tried an earlier version of this I was not happy with, but made some tweaks to the pose that I like a lot more. She's the girl who jumped through time! Chibi Usa has definitely become one of my favorite characters in the series. Her bold attitude may seem bratty, but she knows what she wants after eons trapped in a child's body. She just wants to grow up and be a beautiful lady. Some day, small lady. Some day.

In continuing the #100daysofheroines project and going through the characters of this beloved #shoujo #anime and #manga , I can't forget to include the feline guardian who teaches #Usagi how to harness her powers. Day 2 of #100daysofheroines (or #HeroineAddict) is Luna Lovegood! Occasionally called "Loony" Lovegood by her peers, Luna is likely the most free spirit of the entire series, second maybe only to Dumbledore (though probably not, honestly!). She is another favorite of mine, as a clever Ravenclaw lady with nearly endless compassion. Like Hermione, Luna was key in helping fight the Dark Lord alongside Harry Potter. Luna often helped open others eyes, either by sharing her copy of The Quibbler or by warning of strange creatures and phenomenon most believed too far fetched to be possible. She always had a love of animals and persued a career as a naturalist studying magical creatures and other peculiarites of the Wizarding world. I've depicted her here with a creature she has a particular affinity with, the thestral. Using her wand, she produces soft music to accompany her gentle song, cooing the mare to sleep.

Day 1 - Hermione Granger (Sept 1) I'm kicking this series off with Harry Potter characters in honor of September 1, the first day of Hogwarts classes. Hermione holds a special place in my heart as a truly inspiring young witch. Not only did she embark on wizarding school with no magical mentors at the tender age of eleven, but she proved to be the most clever witch of her class in spite of the skeptics. Above her intellectual prowess, Hermione was bold, passionate, and brave, always willing to fight for what was right. She engaged in political organizing for the rights of House Elves between her studies and helping Harry save the world every other year or so. After leaving Hogwarts her 7th year to hunt Voldemort's horcuxes with Harry Potter and her future husband, Ron Weasely, Hermione stayed true to her love of learning and returned to get her last years' education. She would go on to work for the Department of Magical Law, continuing her fight for justice in the wizarding world. I've drawn her doing what I imagine she does everynight: reading! I wouldn't be surprised if she keeps up with muggle titles, reading "I am Malala" with Crookshanks snoozing at her side. ----------- A 100 days project in the style of https://thegreatdiscontent.com/100days My subject? Heroines! I will create an illustration of a female charater from a fictional work for 100 days to highlight the badass ladies from our favorite stories. I'm hoping to make these all digital paintings so I can practice, but whenever I don't have access or time to flesh one out, I'll at least post a sketch (though there will be an exception when #Inktober rolls around, during which time I will create ink-based drawings). I've got a schedule for myself, but let me know if you have a request for a character to feature in this project!
