Back in the 70’s when I was a kid, we would find a #TigerSalamander under every log out in the woods of #NorthernMinnesota. Since that time, pollution has significantly impacted #amphibian populations. Salamanders are especially vulnerable and in most areas around here you are lucky to run across one these days. It’s been at least twenty years since I’ve seen one, which made this encounter special. This find was even more special because I had never seen this species in person before; a #BlueSpottedSalamander. Normally I would never handle a salamander because bug repellent and sunscreen residue can pass through their skin and kill them, but I knew my hands were free of anything poisonous so I carefully and quickly evacuated this guy to a safe location after I discovered him in our campsite’s woodpile. #LakeSuperior #Camping #HerpLove https://www.instagram.com/p/CBZLOLmAki2/?igshid=pzmg9of3y1b3
