Carolyn thinks that she's lived through a lot and her temperament through it all is something that she does believe is her strength. Yeah, she would get depressed, but she stayed fairly strong throughout all the trials in her life.

Carolyn was no longer that sweet little waitress. A series of horrible events had left her voiceless and lonely. There was no Frederick left to keep her centered, all of her friends had abandoned her, and no one had patience for a woman rendered mute by a monster that had taken so much from so many people.
It was with complete and utter rage at the world that she held out her father's pistol, pointed directly at Hans Landa's heart. She couldn't speak, but the look on her face meant that he had found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
