they have! the scammer is no longer able to hurt people that way. if you've replied to their messages on tumblr, nothing will happen unless you moved to discord. i really recommend everyone makes themselves familiar with the scam that's been going around for at least three years. someone, either a random or it could be someone you know, will comment on a post saying this:
"Hey can you message me? I have something important to tell you its about to your account, but i cant message you idk whyy??"
if they already can message you, they'll just dm you. they'll say this:
"I'm so sorry about this please read it properly, i reported your account because someone is pretending to be you and took my money that's why i file a report on your account it was really the same profile as yours.
just worried because i told my friends to report your account also i already contacted them and they said you are the only one who can handle this report just please add-"
they fake a screenshot to look like an email to them from tumblr. it will have your tumblr icon and username in it. they will tell you to reach out to this eli tucker guy (or they might change his name) on discord. don't do it. he is not tumblr staff, he is a scammer who is trying to take your account and money. if you find yourself talking to him, he will use fear and intimidation tactics to make you go along with what he's telling you to do. he will emotionally manipulate you and threaten you that you will go to prison.
THIS IS NOT REAL. you are not in danger. he can't do anything to you. do not contact him in the first place, if all you've done is reply to the tumblr message nothing can happen, but if you're finding this post because you've already talked to him, do NOT change your tumblr login for him, he will take control of your account and use it to prey on your friends. don't give him your name, don't give him any personal information. if you already have given any, call the police line for your country and report him as a scammer. if he has your bank details, contact your bank and ask them for assistance. for your tumblr, open a help ticket with support to get your account back. if you have contact with a tumblr friend on another platform, tell them and have them warn people to ignore messages from you. this should be the last i post about it, please reblog to share awareness.
