“ you’re the worst, you know that right? like, you actually suck. i’m seriously convinced that you only exist to spite me. ” to those who had no context of the situation, one would think that the leader was serious; the mysterious claude von riegan has finally cracked and shown his true form--a man unafraid to insult a poor damsel. how horrific. disgusting, even.
but that’s not the case here. in fact, the reason behind these scathing words was because hilda had beaten him in chess for the fifth time in a row. he’s got a hand running through his hair, his voice full of both frustration and confusion. “ you don’t even like chess! you don’t even play it! how are you so good at this!? ”
