I'm sending this as an Ano Ask instead of commenting on the post because I am a coward.
So, Brasil won not only it's FIRST Winter Olympic medal but also it is its FIRST GOLD Winter Olympic medal. For Skiing. And as a Brazilian, the first time I heard that I went "we won the what now?" I imagine my reaction was the same as the rest of the country.
It's crazy, because from what I understood, Norway fumbled their ski guy so badly, he left the Norwegians and joined the Brazilians (he has dual citizenship. His mom is Brazilian), and not only made history, but also became sort of a national hero. Because think here with me, Norway wins another gold medal for a snow sport? Not that impressive. A bunch of other guys have done the same. BRASIL wins a SNOW SPORT? Unprecedented. Insane. Amazing. Flabbergasting. How does he know how to snow?????
Anyway, Mr Braathen is living his best life and at least 1 guy on Instagram was being salty.
This is all to preface the following mental image I want you to have: Brasil, Saturday of Carnaval, because there's no way he stayed beyond the opening, having fun, sees the news in a bar and goes "I won what now?" and then when it finally clicks he's like "yooooooooooooooooo whaaaaaaaaaaaaat??!!!?!?" He was definitely going crazy in the nation group chat
I'm cheering for all the warm summer countries at the Winter Olympics! That's so amazing that Brasil won gold! And during Carnaval too. He's probably like "I don't even ski but YOOOOO WORLD CHAMPIONS🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🥇🥇🥇🥇"
