"Hey Light"
Ya! Woo! Ya! Woo! Ya! Woo Ya! Woo!
Hey Light In the curtain, in the room, in a well-made bed for two, I'm walking. Hey Light I'd forgotten work today, cause you should work all day, they're walking Hey Light, the colors will arise, keep it deep inside, we are also working
Ha! Woo! Woo! Ya! Woo Woo! Ha! Woo! Ya! Woo woo! Ha! Ya! (Ha-yeea!)
Hey Light I can wear my moccasins you have made me smile again.
There aint nothin' like you.
A foray into chaos and aggresion, achieving its simple objective: make noise. The audio fidelity of this track is crystal clear; the opening cymbal crashes sound quite robust when played through high-end sound system; the monstrous growls are rich and haunting. What is most impressive is the opening screams, the interplay of shouts between Avey Tare and Panda Bear (and perhaps Geologist, according to live performance video), the boiling of tension, and the final shouts before the percussion erupts. And the fact that these screams are fun to sing along to is quite a feat in itself.
"Hey Light" might be a reference to the comfort of sunrise. The first half is bleak and intense, representing the hostile nature of darkness. Calm handclaps accompany quiet vocals in the second half, creating a sense of emerging from this darkness. Although the creepiness certainly still continues on the song's second half, the aggression does not.
This concludes the opening two tracks of Here Comes the Indian, which are both their own unique elements. The middle of the album is a much more interconnected audio narrative.
