The Hey Queer Photo Project
‘Hey Queer!’ by New York-based Taiwanese photographer Sinru Ku, in collaboration with longtime friend Wen Liu, which aims to ‘reclaim queer Asian representations through their unique individualities and styles’.
The blog sees the self-proclaimed ‘dapper’ masculine style of Ku, Liu and their friends captured in beautifully composed, street style blog-inspired photography and video footage. ‘In the past two or three years there’s been a movement in the community to reclaim queer masculinity in the androgynous communities that are mostly female-bodied,’ says Liu. ‘But based on my experiences, it’s very white. While we have a lot of masculine or androgynouspresenting queer Asian friends around us, we don’t see anything like them in the media.’ (source)
