“It’s not over.”
The Composer tilted his head, considering the boy before him. Neku always seemed to be fighting, trying to deny fate and inevitability every single step of the way. Joshua wasn't sure he could deny this one.
"Who are you going to fight, now, Neku?" He asked lightly, conversational. "The entire Higher Plane? Perhaps god himself? Are you going to unravel the very fabric of the UG just to have things your way?"
Though he kept it from showing, his frustration grew despite his attempts to keep it in check. These were the rules of the UG, and Neku had known that all along. Joshua was not a normal teenager, nor would he ever be. He could not live a normal life with Neku the way that the other wanted- Joshua posed a danger to him simply being around him. Neku had defied the rules of the game, gone further than any player had ever before, but this? This was like fighting gravity. It was bigger than him, bigger than the both of them.
A tiny part of him thought that maybe Neku could defy even this. A part of Joshua wanted him to, and wanted him to succeed.
